Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 30, 2026

This is a plain-language Privacy Policy for Codechi's VAi app, written to be easy to read. It is not legal advice. Please have it reviewed by qualified counsel before you rely on it.

This policy explains, in plain language, what VAi collects and how we use it. The short version: your money data is yours, we use it only to run the app, and we never sell it.

What we collect

  • Your account. When you sign in with email, Google, or Apple, we get your email and basic profile to set up and secure your account. You can also start anonymously and sign in later.
  • What you log. The transactions, amounts, categories, notes, tags, and books (accounts) you keep in the app.
  • Voice notes. When you log by voice, your speech is turned into text on your device by Apple. That text goes to our AI to pull out a transaction. We do not keep the audio.
  • Receipt photos. If you snap a receipt, we read the items from the image. You decide whether to grant camera or photo access.
  • Apple Pay captures. If you set up the optional Wallet shortcut, the merchant name and amount from a payment are sent to create a transaction. You can edit or delete it like any other.
  • Chats with the assistant. Your messages and the assistant's replies are saved so your history is there next time. The assistant can also remember short facts you tell it, like your income or a savings goal, to be more helpful. You can ask it to forget them.
  • Device and diagnostic data. Basic technical information that keeps the app running smoothly.

How we use it

  • Run and sync your account across your devices.
  • Turn your voice notes, photos, Apple Pay payments, and text into transactions.
  • Power the assistant and remember what you have told it.
  • Keep your account secure and answer your questions.

AI processing

To do the smart parts, the text from your voice notes, your receipt images, Apple Pay details, and the chat messages and related financial data you send the assistant are processed by Google's Gemini models. This happens only to provide the feature and is subject to Google's terms, which require Google to protect this data to a standard at least equal to the one described in this policy and not to use it to train its own models or for its own purposes. We do not use your data to train our own models either. We ask for your permission before you first use an AI feature such as the chat assistant, and you can turn AI off at any time in the app's settings — after which no data is sent to Gemini.

How we share data

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with the providers that help us run VAi:

  • Supabase: accounts and database hosting.
  • Google: AI processing (Gemini) and, if you use it, Google Sign-In.
  • Apple: Sign in with Apple and on-device speech.
  • Railway: app and website hosting.

Shared books. If you invite someone to a book, or join one, the people in that book can see its transactions. You choose what to share. We may also disclose information if the law requires it or to keep people safe.

Keeping and deleting your data

We keep your information while your account is active. You can delete your account at any time, and we remove your data, except anything we are required to keep by law. To ask for deletion, email us below.

Security

We use encryption in transit and access controls to protect your data. No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure, so we cannot promise absolute security.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your data, and to withdraw consent. Just email us to ask.

Children

VAi is not meant for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.

Where your data is processed

Your information may be processed in countries other than your own, where data-protection laws may differ.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy now and then. When we do, we will change the date at the top.
